Who am I?
This question has not been answered fully even by the sages and philosophers of the world. Those who found the answers were God like and got nirvana!
On more practical level, I am what can be best described with modesty, an ‘expert’ in the field of Industrial Security Management.
The world is fast growing and with it is growing the needs of the society. More and more industries are coming up and bringing increased numbers of vulnerabilities and threats to them.
The employees themselves are sometimes threats to the industry and most of the time they are subjected to threats! The external pressures from competitors and internal goal-settings often bring in shortcuts in time, manpower and resources. There are sometimes sub-standard persons and processes and sometimes they are subverted. To foresee, forecast and suggest remedies - the Experts step in! This is the point where role of security professionals recedes and expert steps-in!
Brief Resume of Capt S B Tyagi, FISM, CSC
I hold Masters’ degrees in Philosophy, Sociology, Defense Studies & Political Science beside B.Sc. and LLB. I also hold post graduate diplomas in Business Administration, Personnel Management & Industrial Relations and Safety & Security Management.
With twenty six years experience (including Army) in the field I presently work in GAIL (India) Limited as Chief of Security.
I have attended more then dozen overseas seminars on Industrial Security and Crime Prevention.
I have been regular faculty in Management Institutes such as AIM, Jodhpur AIM, Gurgaon beside presentations made in IISSM seminars. Various articles are published in related magazines and internet sites.
Security Today, a leading niche magazine for the protection industry has announced the ‘Security Today Awards’ on 30th August 2007 at New Delhi. Shri Tejendra Khanna, the Honorable Lt. Governor of Delhi bestowed the most coveted ‘Best Security Manger’ award to me. The award is testimony of untiring efforts, constant application of noble approaches in security management, innovation and leadership in the profession which have been distinctly displayed by. I have been recognized in past too for the similar qualities when I was awarded ‘Best Security Manager’ in 2002 and ‘Best Security Operation Manager’ in 2004 by IISSM (International Institute of Security and Safety Management).
I am recipient of “Award of Fellowship (FISM)” and I am also “Certified Security & Safety Consultant (CSC)” by the “International Institute of Security & Safety Management”. I am elected Vice President in the Board of Governors of IISSM and the Secretary of its NCR Chapter.
